Part VII

Learning Objectives

Participants will:

  1. Explain how contact functions in the Oaklander Model of Gestalt Play Therapy enhance a child's sense of self, with emphasis on contact with the body for emotional expression and self-nurturing.

  2. Facilitate the projective experience using somatic work.

  3. Use the 5 part therapeutic process to identify the components of work with body image.

  4. Use the body, breath, and voice to facilitate awareness of the body and playful ways to use these areas in gestalt play therapy.

  5. Identify ways that children and teens are impacted by issues such as sexuality and eating/food and treatment options.

  6. Identify ways to move the body using Seema Omar’s application of various modalities of movement.

  7. Understand and identify the connection between self-compassion, self-nurturing, self-care and self-reflection.

  8. Utilize the “classic” Rosebush technique in a therapeutic setting.

  4. Conduct an effective closure of the therapeutic process.
